LONDON YOUTH CIRCUS (LYC) for people aged between 11 – 18
Classes (between 2 - 9 hours) running throughout the day on Sundays (with supporting classes on Wednesday and Friday nights for people at the higher levels)

Whether you have done loads of circus before, or if you just know you are a natural, this course is a real opportunity to take your talents to new heights. We take students based on future potential as well as existing experience, “it’s fun, exciting and challenging” (LYC student). On the LYC we take our circus pretty seriously and are looking for young people who are interested in entering the Circus Arts as a profession. In our world class training space, students at all levels specialise in Juggling, Static Trapeze, Acrobatics, Flying Trapeze or Tight wire in this progressive training course created to support and nurture young emerging artists.

Uniquely placed in a professional Circus School, the course takes a holistic approach to vocational training. It is designed to:
> develop technical circus skills
> encourage critical thinking
> inspire creativity
> support individuals in their development.

You will work with artists and arts educators who will offer individual support and advice to help students excel at their chosen discipline. Students who are interested in gaining national qualifications can choose to take an arts award.

The training is supported through a 3 year curriculum – initially focusing on general fitness and technical training and then moving on to explore circus in performance in the final term of each year. Students are also supported through a parents evening which was “loads better” than students expected -

“everything inspired me and the performances were amazing” and annual reviews which are great to find out “how you are doing in class and how to make it better” (student).

Entrance to London Youth Circus is by application only – click here for more information and potential students must complete an application form and attend an audition.

cbDeadline dates 08:
cbAuditions will be held 27th July and 10th August.
cbApplication forms must be received by 1st July.
